Top QuestionsHow do I:Access my tax documentsIf you're looking for a tax slip or need a replacement copy, you can now choose to access your RBC Direct Investing tax documents in PDF as soon as they become available. To switch to electronic delivery: 1. Log in and click on the person icon at the top right of your page and find the Account Management section. 2. Go to View & Manage Documents and select the "Manage Documents" tab. Click on the "All Electronic" button to begin receiving all of your documents electronically. You can also use the drop-down menu next to each type of document to choose electronic or paper delivery. Next, select "Continue" and provide your consent for electronic delivery. 3. When you return to the View eDocuments tab, you will have access to an archive starting with your 2018 tax documents Once you switch to electronic delivery, you will no longer receive printed copies in the mail. Alternatively, you can request a duplicate tax slip by using the Message Centre. Click on the person icon at the top right of your page and select Message Centre from the submenu. Click on Send Secure Email and include the name of the specific tax slip you are looking for. If you are requesting a copy of a T3 / R16, please specify the issuer. Transfer cash from my RBC Royal Bank® account to my RBC Direct Investing accountFrom Trade & Transfer on the site menu, use the dropdown menus and click on Transfers. Select Transfer Funds to move cash between your RBC Direct Investing accounts and any RBC Royal Bank accounts (CDN to CDN or U.S. to U.S.) connected to your RBC Client Card. Funds transferred TO your RBC Direct Investing account will be available immediately when the request is made between 4:30 a.m. and 7:54 p.m. ET, seven days a week. If the transfer is requested after 7:54 p.m., the funds will be available in your RBC Direct Investing account by 4:30 a.m. This applies to cash, margin, RRSP and TFSA accounts. Transfer my accounts to RBC Direct InvestingUse the transfer form on the RBC Direct Investing site to transfer accounts in from other financial institutions. Here's how you do it: From Trade and Transfer on the site menu, use the drop down menu and select Transfers. Then click on Transfer Assets from Another Institution. Select the type of account you wish to transfer into. If you are transferring in an investment, registered retirement, or TFSA accounts, you'll be presented with the automated Online Transfer forms. For RESPs and pension accounts, you'll be presented with a PDF version of this form. Please complete the appropriate form, making sure to provide all of the required information. Transfers within RBC can take anywhere from three to seven days. Transfers from other institutions can take two to six weeks. For stocks and ETFs, you do not need to sign any exchange agreements. For real-time options and over-the-counter (OTC) quotes, please follow the steps below to complete and submit exchange agreements: 1. Click on the person icon at the top right of any page. 2. Watch real-time streaming quotesReal-time streaming quotes for stocks and ETFs can be found: 1. On your Detailed Quote page. You'll need to turn streaming on. Click Streaming Quotes On and the switch will turn blue. You need only to do this once. 2. On your Trading Dashboard. Streaming is automatically enabled. 3. On your online Watchlists and the Watchlist Widget (the blue star found on the top right of any page on the site). You'll need to turn streaming on. Open a new RBC Direct Investing accountThe quickest and easiest way to open a new RBC Direct Investing investment account, like Cash or Margin, RRSP, TFSA, or RRIF is through the online investing site. Here's how you do it: 1. Click on the person icon at the top right of any page. 2. Under Account Management, select "Open a New Account" 3. Choose the account type you wish to open, and you're on your way. The interactive online application is the most convenient and easiest way to open an account. You'll receive step-by-step instructions guiding you through the account application process. Plus, you can also open multiple accounts in the same online session. And as an RBC Direct Investing client, you can submit most applications online. With our eSignature feature, you don't have to sign and mail the application. Please note that for some account types you'll need Adobe Reader 9.0 or higher and Internet Explorer 6 or higher to complete the online application form. Update my addressYou can update your address online, by phone or by mail. Here's how you do it online: 1. Click on the person icon at the top right of any page. 2. Select the "View Profile & Account Settings" link. 3. Update your information using the "Change your Client Profile" form and click "submit". 4. While you're updating your profile, you might click on "Email Address & Preferences" to ensure we have the correct email address on file for you. Note that if you have given us a post office box number as your mailing address, Canadian securities regulations require that you also provide us with a permanent street address for our records. Remove a de-listed stock from my accountSometimes a security may stop trading on a recognized exchange and is deemed worthless. If this happens to one of your securities you can have it removed from your RBC Direct Investing account. (You can also, of course, keep the security in your account, if that's what you'd prefer.) If you wish to remove a worthless security from your account, follow these steps: 1. Log in and click on the person icon at the top right of your page. Go to the Account Management section and select "View Forms & Agreements". 2. Under Commonly Used Forms, find the links to Remove a Worthless Security from a Non-Registered Account and Remove a Worthless Security from a Registered Plan 3. Select the form that corresponds to your account type, either non-registered or registered. 4. Complete and submit the form electronically. Note that once a security is removed from your account record as worthless it cannot be reinstated even if it regains value or starts to trade again.
